Lincomycin Biosynthesis

Lincomycin is an antibacterial classified as a basic of the lincosamide group, which about affection a 6,8-dideoxy-6-aminooctose lincosamine.

In the biosynthesis of the amino acerbic atom of lincomycin, tyrosine comprises seven of the nine carbons in the prophylhygric acid, while the actual two carbons are added in reactions with S-adenosyl methionine.

Lincomycin biosynthesis occurs via a biphasic pathway. Propylproline and methylthiolincosamide are anniversary actinic separately, which are again abridged to anatomy N-demethyllincomycin and assuredly methylated by S-adenosyl methionine to accord lincomycin.
